Even though pineapple trees are considered a fruit, pineapples grow on a plant very close to the ground. Each pineapple fruit tree bears just one pineapple. Indoor pineapple fruit trees take at least 16 to 24 months, before they flower and form their first fruits. Sucker-grown plants usually fruit earliest at around 16 months, slips may take 24 months and a crown can take up to 28 months.
