A very different plant for Sunshine Coast gardens, Costus Spiralis is a tough tropical ginger with a decorative red flower. Ideal for using under larger trees or bamboos, can also grow well in pots. They like part shade to full sun with sufficient water and a good mulch and rich soil is required. They grow 1-1.5m high.
